At a time when most of the teams are busy adding final touches to their preparations for the World Cup, Team India’s players are busy nursing injuries. Kedar Jadhav and Vijay Shankar missed the first warm-up clash against New Zealand due to their respective injuries. And now another player – Hardik Pandya – has also suffered an injury scare just before the second warm-up clash.

Pandya suffered the injury during the practise session while he was taking throw-downs from the specialists. One of those throws rose sharply and ended up hitting Pandya on his left underarm. Pandya was seen grimacing in pain and decided against continuing his batting. The right-handed batsman did not return to bat again.

However, it is more than likely that he would play the warm-up clash since the injury did not look too serious and was just a blow. But the team management could also decide to rest him as a precautionary measure.

India, meanwhile, will be hoping that Pandya is fit and fine for the World Cup. The Baroda allrounder was in red-hot form in this year’s Indian Premier League, playing a big role in Mumbai Indians’ march to the title. The allrounder impressed with both bat and ball to finish the competition as one of the most impactful players.

More often than not, Pandya bailed out Mumbai Indians with his stunning power-hitting. He was equally impressive with the ball and gave his side crucial breakthroughs throughout the competition. He faced just 210 balls in the competition but still ended up hammering 402 runs at a strike-rate of over 190.  With the ball too, he was effective as he picked up 14 wickets and as usual, he was flawless with his fielding.
