If Hardik Pandya is giving a lot of reason for his family to celebrate with his on-field exploits then his elder brother Krunal is set to double the happiness for the Pandya family as the Mumbai Indians star is all set to start a new innings off the field.

The 26-year old, who was instrumental in Mumbai Indians’ title triumph this year, will tie the knots with his long-term girlfriend Pankhuri Sharma. The couple has been dating for last one-and-half years. Confirming the news, Krunal said he will get married on December 27 at a five-star hotel in Mumbai’s Santa Cruz. Krunal said the wedding ceremony will be attended by family members and close relatives.

“We will marry in a ceremony attended by family members and close relatives. On the same evening, a reception will be organized. I am very happy that I am marrying a girl who is more like a friend and understands me,” Krunal told The Times of India.

The couple met a couple of years ago at a public gathering

When asked abut he met Pankhuri, Krunal revealed: “She is a friend of my friend. We met at a common gathering two years ago and developed a liking for each other. We both are of same age and get along a lot. What I like about her is her simplicity and supportive nature.”

The southpaw further revealed that he was the one who asked Pankhuri for the wedding after Mumbai Indians won the IPL title this year.

“Well, I proposed her for marriage after our team Mumbai Indians became champions in the IPL this year. I was awarded man of the match in the finals and I thought it was the right time,” Krunal said.

“Pankhuri immediately said yes. My family too is very happy. I believe that if you find the right partner then relationship is the best part of your life. I found the right girl,” he added.

Krunal went on to state that ‘the right girl’ does not too many cricket matches but understands that game’s value in his life.

“She understands that cricket is my life and supports me. She doesn’t watch matches much except those that I play in,” he said.

Coming to his playing player, the Baroda star is not featuring in the ongoing Ranji Trophy due to injuries and is currently working hard to regain his match fitness. Pandya has been one of the most sought after stars in the IPL and his reputation is only going to soar up after his exploits in the last edition of the tournament.

Krunal made his debut in the IPL last year and made an instant impression. In an otherwise dismal season for Mumbai in 2016, Krunal was a standout performer, scoring 237 runs in addition to picking up 6 wickets. He did even better this year as he scored 243 runs and picked up 10 wickets. He was rewarded for the performance with a maiden call up from the India A team.
