Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Director Cricket Operations, Haroon Rasheed, believes the addition of cash-rich Pakistan Super League (PSL) T20 league franchise Multan Sultan franchise will be having a lot on an offer. However, he means the league would be even more difficult this time around.

The third edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is bound to kick off from 22nd February.

Interestingly, the matches will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) – the second home for Pakistan.

However, the franchisees started off preparations for the riveting competition.

A new entrant in the form of Sultans’ owners snapped up some of the big names of the world cricket.

The sixth franchise of PSL avails the services of Shoaib Malik, Kieron Pollard and Kumar Sangakkara in the pre-draft.

Moreover, the team will be coached by former Australian cricketer Tom Moody.

The tournament will have six teams for the first time in two years. All the six teams have started gathering together in Dubai for the third edition of the tournament.

The curtain raiser of the tournament will be played between defending Champions Peshawar Zalmi and Sultans.

Lahore Qalandars became the first team to reach the UAE on Thursday. They will take on newcomers Sultans on February 23 in Dubai.

Many former cricketers believe this year’s edition will be more entertaining and competitive.

As the previous two editions housed five outfits. Moreover, the former players stated the addition of the sixth team will make the tournament more open.

Haroon Rasheed said: “All teams are well prepared for the competition. They have been practicing here in Pakistan and will also have some days to practice in Dubai. The earlier a team reaches the UAE, the more advantage it will have over other teams.”

Rasheed also reflects about the preparation of the teams: “No matter how hard you prepare, on match day all it takes are a few good overs with the bat or the ball to turn the game on its head. Even in previous seasons, we have seen that matches are more than capable of producing a twist in the tale.”

“Every team has selected their power hitters and will be relying on them since one good innings from them can make all the difference. Talking about the matches to be played in Pakistan, Rasheed said they have had an amazing response for them,” Rasheed feels that each team has three or four players who can change the game around for their side.

“Karachi has now been given security clearance after the visit of the security consultants. Once the final is held in Karachi, teams will start touring the city just like they are now touring Lahore. Hopefully, in three or four years, we can have international cricket back in the country,” Rasheed concluded.
