Harsha Bhogle Responds After Being Criticised Who Criticised For Interviewing Ravindra Jadeja In Hindi

Harsha Bhogle is arguably the most popular commentator in this cricket-obsessed nation. The veteran commentator has been voice of Indian cricket for more than two decades and his popularity is only growing with each passing day. No surprises then that while his fellow commentators face the flak of the fans every now and then, he is just adored by the same mass of fans.

However, Harsha Bhogle recently faced some heat on Twitter for an incident that took place during the third ODI between India and West Indies in Cuttack on Sunday. At the end of the game, Harsha Bhogle was interviewing Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur after the two took India over the line in a tight chase.

He started by asking Thakur about his batting before focusing on Jadeja. But while he asked the question to Thakur in England, he resorted to Hindi in case of Ravindra Jadeja. But when Jadeja replied to his question in English, Bhogle immediately shifted to English and the rest of the interview went smoothly. However, a number of fans took to Twitter to criticise the commentator.

Harsha Bhogle usually does not responds to criticism but he made an exception with the whole Jadeja issue. He took to Twitter to explain his action and as usual the response was brilliant as he wrote:

“Okay, since I have been flooded with responses on this…. In a post match presentation, you always go in the language the player is most comfortable in. I’ve known Jadeja for 10 yrs now and so began in his language. The moment he indicated he was good to go in English, I shifted”

India clinch series:

India, meanwhile, beat West Indies by four wickets to win the series 2-1. Chasing 316, India crossed the line in the 49th over thanks to fifties from Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli before some fine cameo from Jadeja and Thakur.
