Hasan Ali, Mohammad Amir Leave PCB’s WhatsApp Group Post Central Contract Snub

Pakistan cricket is not going through a smooth phase at the moment. Pakistan pacers Mohammad Amir and Hasan Ali have left the WhatsApp group created by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after they were denied central contracts for 2020-21 season.

Notably, PCB announced its 18-player central contract on Wednesday which will come into effect from July 1. Among the significant changes, wicket-keeper batsman Sarfaraz Ahmed has been demoted to ‘Category B’ while premier fast bowler Mohammad Amir has missed out on the contract.

With a strong going through in the Pakistan cricket, now there is news of rifts between the board and its players, especially after the announcement of the central contracts list.

Mohammad Amir, Hasan Ali Leave PCB’s Whatsapp Group

A report in cricketpakistan.com.pk quoted team sources as saying that it was not unusual for the players to voluntarily leave the group — set up by PCB for issues and recommendations related to fitness — after they are dropped from the central contract list.

PCB stated that Hasan Ali, Amir and Wahab will remain in contention for selection in what will be a busier cricket season as compared to the one that has just concluded. Following his exclusion from the list, Hasan had even posted a cryptic tweet which he later deleted. He last played for Pakistan in the 2019 World Cup clash against India at Manchester.

Misbah ul Haq Had His Reasons For Leaving Out Amir, Hasan, and Wahab

Speaking about Amir, Hasan and Wahab missing out the contract, Pakistan coach, Misbah ul Haq said, “The selectors have made the tough decisions to leave out Amir, Hasan and Wahab but considering Hasan missed most of the season due to an injury and Amir and Wahab decided to focus on white-ball cricket, this was the right move.”

“However, Amir and Wahab are senior and experienced bowlers and they remain in contention as we believe they can still contribute to the Pakistan men’s cricket team and also mentor our young battery of fast bowlers,” Misbah ul Haq added.
