Pakistan fast bowler Hasan Ali will miss the upcoming three-match T20I series against Australia owing to a back injury. He has failed to regain fitness from the back pain which has kept him out of action since the ICC World Cup 2019 in England.

The Men in Greens, who recently suffered a humiliating defeat to Sri Lanka will look to begin fresh against the Aussies. However, they received a major jolt ahead of the all-important series as they will miss star pacer, Hasan Ali.

A Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official said that after the latest MRI reports taken after a rehab period, the doctors had advised Hasan another three to four weeks of rest.

“Hasan has been undergoing rehab at the national cricket academy in Lahore but apparently his back problem is taking time to heal,” said the official.

Hasan Ali has been an important stakeholder in this Pakistan line-up. He played a key role during their Champions Trophy victory in 2017 in England. Hasan, who has played in 53 ODIs, 30 T20 internationals and nine Tests, is likely to be out for the two Tests in Australia, beginning November 21.

Meanwhile, Pakistan will begin their journey under their new skipper Babar Azam, who replaced Sarfaraz Ahmed recently. PCB, after taking everything into consideration decided to sack Sarfaraz owing to his poor form. Azhar Ali will take up the role in red-ball cricket.
