The veteran cricketer has been getting fans’ support after being banned with few fans also gathering outside the BCB’s office in Bangladesh. Sakib Ummey Al Hasan, Shakib’s wife, has also reacted to the ban on her husband and has said that ‘he will be back stronger in no time’.

The star all-rounder was banned for failing to report fixing approaches made by a bookie in last two years. While the ICC’s release did not mention the matches during which he was approached during the tri-series, it does mention the IPL match during which he was approached.

Shakib, who was approached ahead of Sunrisers Hyderabad’s match against Kings XI Punjab in April 2018, performed quite well in that match as he scored 28 runs and scalped two wickets. During the tri-series, he scored 163 runs and scalped nine wickets.

Upon his return, the biggest challenge for Shakib will be to be back in contention for selection for World Cup 2021.
