The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also joined the long list of wishers as Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma took to Twitter to officially confirm the much-awaited new on Monday (December 11).
Both Kohli and Anushka posted a couple of pictures from the ceremony held in Italy with a caption which read, “Today we have promised each other to be bound in love for ever. We are truly blessed to share the news with you.This beautiful day will be made more special with the love and support of our family of fans & well-wishers. Thank you for being such an important part of our journey.”
And as soon as they broke the news, the social media has been flooded with congratulatory messages and BCCI also made sure to congratulate the newly-weds. The cricket board congratulated the couple through their official Twitter handle, writing: “Heartiest congratulations to this lovely pair. Wishing the couple a very happy married life.”

Meanwhile, the wedding was attended only by a handful of people comprising family members and close friends. The couple, however, will throw a lavish wedding reception in Mumbai on December 26 for their friends from cricket, Bollywood industry and other fields
They will also be hosting a reception in New Delhi on December 21 for their relatives. After the festivities, the two will travel to South Africa together, where Virat will begin to prepare for the upcoming series and will ring in the New Year together.
