It was all about Virat Kohli in the home town of MS Dhoni in Ranchi. Till the time he was on the crease in the chase to a target of 314, India were looking good to chase down the target. As soon as he was dismissed, it was all done for the hosts as they lost the third ODI by 32 runs.

For once again, the Indian openers failed. Shikhar Dhawan continued his dry run and was dismissed on 1.

Rohit Sharma was trapped in front of the stumps when he was on 14 by Pat Cummins. Ambati Rayudu too continued his struggles with the bat.

It was all on Kohli to be the sole warrior for his team but a little bit of lapse of concentration cost him his wicket.
Never after his dismissal, India seemed to be active in the chase and lost the match.

With the win, Australia kept the series alive going into fourth and fifth ODI.

Australian skipper Aaron Finch was elated with the win and was also happy to be back in form.

“It was a pretty good performance. To get 300 on that wicket was very good. It was nice and especially in these conditions. That partnership allowed Maxi to come in and play his game. I have been working really hard and have always had the faith I would get runs. Usman played a fantastic knock, Jhye was also impressive with the ball,” he said during the presentation ceremony.

Australia had the best start to their innings as openers Aaron Finch and Usman Khawaja shared 193 runs for the first wicket. Finch finally returned to form and scored 93 off 99 before being trapped by Kuldeep Yadav.

Usman Khawaja scored his maiden ODI ton and was dismissed on 114.

The openers never allowed the Indian bowlers to really bring India into the game at the start as they batted as per the demand of the pitch.

But once Australia lost two wickets, they suffered a slump with Shaun Marsh and Peter Handscomb going back quickly.

Marcus Stoinis and Alex Carey shared 50 runs for the sixth wicket that saw Australia post a score of 313.

Despite the win, there were may are of concerns for the visitors as they were, once, looking good to score 350 but middle-order struggle saw them ending up on a less score that was expected from them.
