Hanuma Vhari was one of the India international players who did not find any buyers in the IPL 2020 auction which took place on December 19. Vihari, considering that he has been part of India A’s white-ball squad for past few series, was expected to get a couple of bids but none of the franchises bid for him at his base price of Rs 50 Lakh.

While the franchises did not show any interest in Vihari, the India middle-order batsman is confident of doing well for India in white-ball cricket whenever the opportunity comes.

“It’s not in my control and I don’t really want to comment on it. My job is to play well and win matches. I have done well for the state team in white-ball cricket. So whenever I get an opportunity, I will do well for the India team as well,” he told PTI.

Vihari, who made his comeback to IPL last year after three seasons, was a part of Delhi Capitals in IPL 2019. During the auction, he got bids from Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians and Delhi, who had the final say. Vihari played two matches for DC.

He was released ahead of IPL 2020 auction and surprisingly, he did not get even one bid. He will not be a part of the 13th season of IPL but Vihari remains to be part of the Test squad.

The right-hande batsman has 466 runs in seven Test matches. In 74 List A matches, he has 2927 runs while Vihari has1355 runs in 74 T20s.

He will be part of the Test squad which will travel to New Zealand next year and is also likely to play a Test there as the team management is unlikely to play two specialist spinners.

Vihari will provide solidity to the batting line-up and he can also contribute with his part-time off-spin. He, along with few other India internationals, will also be a part of India A squad before the Test series.
