Bangladesh pulled off an emphatic victory in the third T20 match of the Nidahas Trophy 2018 against Sri Lanka as they chased down a huge target of 215. Sri Lanka posted a mammoth total of 214/6 in 20 overs while batting first and Bangladesh batsmen never backed down from chasing the target.

No one would have imagined Bangladesh chasing down this huge target at mid-innings. Moreover, hosts Sri Lanka had the backing of their home crowd.
But the Bangladeshi batsmen had some other idea s and decimated the Sri Lankan bowling attack as they chased down the target in 19.4 overs.

Bangladesh’s most experienced batsman, Mushfiqur Rahim took the reins of the run chase in his hands and played an innings of his life as he scored 72 at a strike-rate of 205.71.

The emotions ran high as Bangladesh chased down the target and the entire team sprinted towards the centre of the pitch. The entire team celebrated their highest ever run chase.
The wicker-keeper batsman believes that this win has given the team enough momentum to move forward in the tournament. He said:
“In this short format momentum is crucial. I hope we can carry on with it in our next two matches as we have got confidence back.”

He also added that it is important for them to not get carried away after the victory. Rahim added:
“I don’t like lot of noise [appreciation and lofty talks] after just one win. The wicket was good to bat and someone will be able to play such a knock. When you are playing for 13 years it is natural that you will make improvement. I just want to return what cricket has given me with my performance.”
Mushfiqur appreciated the spirit shown by their batsmen but believes they need to bowl well against India:
“We have to bowl well against India. They are a strong side but if we can bowl well we can surely count on our chances against them.”
