The last few days have seen Shahid Afridi and Gautam Gambhir taking a shot at each other relentlessly. It all started with Afridi’s views on Gautam Gambhir that came to light when his autobiography ‘Game Changer’ came out. Afridi referred to Gambhir as someone who “behaves like a cross between Don Bradman and James Bond,” and has a “lot of attitude and no great records”.

“Some rivalries were personal, some professional. First the curious case of Gambhir. Oh poor Gautam. He & his attitude problem. He who has no personality. He who is barely a character in the great scheme of cricket. He who has no great records just a lot of attitude,” Afridi wrote.

“Gambhir behaves like he’s a cross between Don Bradman & James Bond. In Karachi, we call guys like him saryal (grumpy). It’s simple, I like happy, positive people. Doesn’t matter if they are aggressive or competitive, but you have to be positive & Gambhir wasn’t,” he further wrote.

Gambhir, who won two World Cups with India, then shot back at Afridi by offering to take him for a session with “a psychiatrist”. Tagging Afridi in his tweet,  Gambhir savagely wrote:

“…you are a hilarious man!!! Anyway, we are still granting visas to Pakistanis for medical tourism. I will personally take you to a psychiatrist.”

Well, Afridi now seems to have enough of the verbal fight as he said he hold no personal grudges against Gambhir. The former Pakistan skipper also said the infamous fight in 2007 during the Kanpur ODI was just a mistake.

“I just want to say when we had that fight in the match it was a mistake by both of us. We realised that later. I have nothing personal against Gambhir. In fact, I have some good friends in the Indian team and I get along with them well off the field. Even if I meet Gambhir somewhere, I will greet him normally as I have nothing in my heart against him,” Shahid Afridi told a local television channel in his country.
