Finally, after all the ruckus in almost all the available courts in India, the fast bowler S Sreesanth got the nod to play the game of cricket again. The flamboyant cricketer will be free to play the game again from the next year, as the BCCI ombudsman cut short the life ban to pre-dated 7-year ban.

Sreesanth, who was arrested by the Delhi Police on charges of spot-fixing during the 2013 IPL and was banned for life by the BCCI, challenged the punishment. After the ban was overturned by the Supreme Court earlier this year, the BCCI referred the matter to its Ombudsman D K Jain, who, in turn, reduced it to seven years, the sanction period now ending in 2020.

The 36-year-old was originally banned for life for his alleged involvement in the 2013 IPL spot-fixing scandal. In March this year, the Supreme Court, however, had “set aside” his life ban, asking the BCCI to “reconsider” and “revisit” the length of any fresh ban.

I would start training from next month – Sreesanth

S Sreesanth is aiming to make a comeback in the Indian Test team and pick at least 100 wickets before ending his career after his life ban was reduced to 7 years by the BCCI Ombudsman DK Jain on Tuesday.

Further, Sreesanth revealed that he is eyeing to make it into the Kerala Ranji Team and would like to start his practice from next month. Sreesanth strongly believes that he would make a comeback into India’s Test team.

“I am very happy with the decision. I would like to make a comeback to the Kerala Ranji team and contribute it to the team’s victory. And also, I would start training from next month. Youngsters from Kerala are doing well and that’s an inspiration,” Sreesanth said.

“I hope I will be able to come back into the Indian Test team. I have taken 87 wickets in Test cricket. 13 more wickets are required to reach 100 wickets,” he said to the reporters following the judgement.

So far, he has played 27 Tests, 53 one-day internationals and 10 Twenty20 internationals, claiming a total of 169 wickets. Most probably, he will make a comeback to the Kerala team in next year domestic season if everything goes right for him in between.
