India’s rookie southpaw batsman Rishabh Pant said he knows how he should tackle different match situations. Pant who still lacks experience at the International level believes he can take India over the finishing line. In fact, Pant has been able to prove his mettle in the red ball version. He has made a merry start to his Test career.

The combative left-hander who had opened his account with the six in multi-day format was the second highest run-getter on the tour Down Under. Pant had scored 350 runs on the Australian tour as he batted at the top of his game.

The wicketkeeper-batsman scored an undefeated knock of 159 in the final and fourth Test match at Sydney Cricket Ground. Thus, Pant had a successful tour of Australia.

Speaking on his game the youngster spoke to ESPNcricinfo and said it is imperative to focus on the process, “I just focus on my processes. I don’t see whether I am doing well or badly. Because results obviously matter, but at the end of the day, your processes are important. Whatever processes have brought me here, I need to focus on that.”

On the other hand, Dinesh Karthik was omitted from the Indian ODI squad. Consequently, the selectors want to give opportunities to Rishabh Pant before the World Cup. Meanwhile, Pant said that it is crucial to adapt to different formats. Pant said it is pivotal to execute the big shots with perfection.

Addressing those issues Pant said, “Formats make all the difference. If you are playing days cricket and get out trying to hit a six, everybody knows and says it is irresponsible. But when it comes off, nobody says anything. The percentage is what matters. If you are getting out in ten matches but are getting the results in nine of them, that is important. If my percentage of results is high, I only focus on my process. ”

“And if something is working for me, it might not work for someone else. Similarly if something is working for someone else, it might not always help me,” he added.

Pant is a confident young lad who believes he knows how he should play accordingly to match situations. The southpaw is still young in his career but he feels he can deliver the goods in crunch conditions.

“It feels like all my life I have played only cricket. By now, at least this much I know: how to play in what situation. Sometimes you have to curb your instincts, that is also important. At the end of the day, you have to score runs. Can’t play just to survive,” he further added.
Rishabh Pant can be an X-factor in the ICC World Cup 2019. Pant will like to make the most of his talent and he has the skills to change the complexion of the match on its head. The southpaw can hit the ground running and he can catapult his attack on the opposition from the get-go. However, Pant will like to show more maturity in his shot-making.
