Perhaps, there are only a few opening pairs in the current world cricket, who are as strong as the Shikhar Dhawan-Rohit Sharma pair. The duo has been sensational for Indian National Cricket Team in the shorter formats of the game. They have already bagged quite a few staggering records in their kitty to stay ahead of quite a few world-class opening pairs.

The two started opening the innings back in 2013 during the ICC Champions Trophy in England which India won. Over the last several years, Rohit and Dhawan have been among the most destructive opening batsmen in world cricket and have been instrumental in several Indian victories.

Both of our games have matured with time – Shikhar Dhawan

Speaking of their partnership, the stylish southpaw thanked god for letting the duo go successfully for the team. He added that they have been matured enough to tackle the situations against the world-class bowling attacks as well.

Further, he went on to add saying that the time has made everything to fall in place for the team. Dhawan added that they both know the expectations of the team from them and also knows how the team would really go into the business.

”I want to thank Maalik (God) that my opening partnership with Rohit (Sharma) is still going strong. We have been performing consistently and both of us have performed well for the side. It feels good to know that we are counted among the top opening pairs in the world,” Shikhar Dhawan said to CricketNext.

”Both of our games have matured with time. The responsibility on our shoulders has also increased. We know how to go about an innings when to take the risk, when not to. We know the pattern of the team. Our strength is that technically also we are strong and game sense is also strong. Rohit has over 200 games now and I have played 125 ODIs, so that also counts a lot. In pressure situations, we don’t panic at all. This patience has come with time,” he added.

Well, as Dhawan said, the time has made everything look in control for the duo. They both played together in their peak time and still going strong against world-class bowlers. They have garnered tremendous experience under their belt to make things happen for the team.

Recently, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan became only the 4th opening pair in ODI history to go past 4000 runs together.
