I Will Come Out Of This Faster And Stronger - Prithvi Shaw After Suspension

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has suspended young India Test opener Prithvi Shaw for doping violations. The apex body has handed a pre-dated suspension of eight months starting from March 16. After the outcome, Shaw released a detailed statement saying that he consumed the prohibited substance inadvertently and will come out from this stronger and faster.

Prithvi Shaw provided a urine sample as part of an anti-doping testing program during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on February 22, 2019, in Indore. The sample contained Terbutaline – a substance that is on the WADA Prohibited List of Substances. Following the findings, BCCI charged the Mumbai cricketer with the commission of an Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV) under the BCCI Anti-Doping Rules (ADR) Article 2.1 on July 16, 2019.

The 19-year-old Prithvi Shaw has responded to turn of events saying that he consumed the substance accidentally. BCCI found the explanation satisfactory put forth a back-dated eight-month suspension which will go on till November 15, 2019. As per BCCI guidelines, Shaw will be able to train with the team or use club facilities from September 15.

“I have come to know today that I will not be able to play cricket till mid November 2019. This is in light of a prohibited substance present in the cough syrup which I inadvertently took when I had severe cough & cold while playing for my Mumbai team during Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament in Indies in Feb 2019,” Shaw said in a statement.

Furthermore, Prithvi Shaw also added he accept the fate with full sincerity despite saying that news has taken him by shock. The Mumbai-born cricketer also stated that he will come out of this faster and stronger and thanked everyone for their support at this hour.

“I thank BCCI for all the support & also my near & dear ones who have always stood by me. Cricket is my life & there is no bigger pride for me than playing for India & Mumbai and I will come out of this faster & stronger. Thank you again everyone for your support,” Shaw concluded.
