We are about six months away from the much anticipated 2019 World Cup in England and Wales. However, if the reports are to be believed, then fans have already made up their mind. According to a top ICC official, not more than 3500 tickets are left in total for the mega event. Campbell Jamieson, General Manager – Commercial at the International Cricket Council (ICC), said the majority of the tickets have been sold out for the tournament, which begins on May 30.

“Overall, 48 matches will take place in the global event. Most of the World Cup games are sold out. I think we have just about 3500 tickets left in total. This shows the interest the game is greater than ever,” Jamieson told PTI after the announcement of the tie-up between ICC and Indian beer brand, Bira 91.

However, the event faced controversy recently as many cricket fans were informed that they bagged tickets for the 2019 World Cup. The tournament’s ticketing partners have issued an apology for the miscommunication. ICC tweeted out the text recently –
“We understand a number of CWC19 ticketing emails were sent out this morning in error. Ticketmaster will contact any affected customers directly. We apologise for any inconvenience or confusion caused.”
Teams prepare for the mega event in England and Wales
According to a report by BBC, no such money has been taken from these fans. It earlier got reported that about 2.7 million people had applied for the 800,000 tickets. If numbers are to be believed, 450,000 of them have already been sold. However, the Ticketmaster has not issued any statement related to refund for those who received false emails.

Meanwhile, the countries are preparing hard for the event. The Indian side led by Virat Kohli is looking forward to the event. Millions of Indian fans will head to the stadiums to support the men in blue. Also, Australia is the defending champions, having lifted the 2015 edition of the event.
