England has booked their semi-final berth in the ongoing 2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup after securing a massive victory against New Zealand at Chester-le-Street on Wednesday (3rd July).

After winning the toss, England managed the first innings total of 305/8 (50 overs). Chasing down that target, the Blackcaps lost their all wickets in 45 overs after scoring just 186 runs. The host side England won this match by 119 runs.

ii) In the ongoing 2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, Kane Williamson has scored 481 runs. As a New Zealand captain, it is the most runs in a CWC edition. Martin Crowe was the previous record holder with 456 runs in 1992 CWC.

i) England opening batsman Jonny Bairstow scored his second consecutive century in this CWC edition. Bairstow is the first English batsman to score two consecutive centuries in CWC history.

ii) Jonny Bairstow’s 106-run knock is the second highest individual score by an England batsman against New Zealand in CWC history. Keith Fletcher is the record holder with 131 runs (at Nottingham on 11th June 1975).

iii) Joe Root has scored 925 runs against New Zealand in ODI career. Surpassing Allan Lamb’s 921 ODI runs record against New Zealand, Root becomes the most ODI run-scorer for England against New Zealand.

iv) In the ongoing 2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, Joe Root has scored 500 runs. Root is the first England batsman to score 500 runs in a CWC edition.

v) In the ongoing 2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, England pacer Jofra Archer has taken 17 wickets, and another pacer Mark Wood has claimed 16 wickets. For England, the previous record of most wickets in a CWC edition was 16 by Ian Botham in 1992 CWC.
