Australia have gained one place to move to sixth while India retained their fifth position in International Cricket Council‘s latest T20 International rankings. The three-match series ended 1-1 after the series-decider at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad on Friday (October 13) was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to wet outfield.

Australia moved up in the latest rankings due to their win in the second game at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati. The team from Down Under was ranked seventh before the series but gained one point after the 8-wicket win and consequently gained one point to leapfrog South Africa.
India, who are the number one Test and ODI ranked side, had the chance to improve their rankings in the shortest format of the game in the just-concluded series. A whitewash would have helped them to move within three points of the top-ranked side while a 2-1 win would have helped them gain two precious rating points.
The ranking is continued to be led by New Zealand who are on 125 points and are followed by Pakistan, West Indies and England.
ICC T20I Ranking:
Rank | Team | Points |
1 | New Zealand | 125 |
2 | Pakistan | 121 |
3 | West Indies | 120 |
4 | England | 119 |
5 | India | 116 |
6 | Australia | 111 |
7 | South Africa | 110 |
8 | Sri Lanka | 93 |
9 | Afghanistan | 86 |
10 | Bangladesh | 78 |
Meanwhile, India will have a chance to improve their rankings when they take on New Zealand in the forthcoming three-match T20I series next month.
