World cricket governing body International Cricket Council (ICC) has provisionally suspended Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) director Enock Ikope on Tuesday (June 12).

The verdict came as Ikope is said to have breached three counts ICC’s Anti-Corruption Code.

Meanwhile, he is the second ZC official after Rajan Nayer to be under ICC’s radar. Previously, the lawmaking body suspended Nayer for 20 years from all cricketing activities following his involvement in fixing menace.

Nayer, who was the treasurer and marketing director of the Harare Metropolitan Cricket Association (HMCA) accepted his charges of offering Graeme Cremer to fix an international game.

Zimbabwean skipper Cremer “immediately” reported to the approach to the ICC, which began an investigation into the matter.

Ikope is the chairman of the HMCA since 2015.

The official breached ICC’s Article 2.4.6 and Article 2.4.7 under the ACU of the Dubai-based board. This includes offences such as refusing to co-operate, delaying and obstruction of an investigation into possible corruption.

However, it is still unclear if Ikope’s charges stem from the same incident as Nayer’s.

The apex body in a statement has reiterated that Ikope has 14 days to respond to the charges.

Mr Ikope has 14 days from June 11, 2018, to respond to the charges. The ICC will not make any further comment in respect of these charges at this stage,” the ICC said in a statement.
