It was a scintillating series between Pakistan and Australia in the UAE. Both the teams tried their best in the first Test of the series paving the way for the intriguing second Test in Abu Dhabi. However, Pakistan stole the show entirely with their impeccable performance by winning the game by 373 runs. Meanwhile, it instantly made the effect on the ICC Test Rankings.
The third-ranked Australians slipped down furtherly to fifth with their poor display in Test cricket. They started the series with 106 points with a decimal point difference to second-placed South Africa.
However, the loss against Pakistan dent them dearly, which made them lose four points. With 102 points in their kitty, Australia is now placed 5th in the ICC Test Rankings.
Now, they are marginally decimal points behind New Zealand on the rankings chart. On the other hand, Pakistan remained the same at the seventh place on the ranking chart, close to Sri Lanka. They advanced from 88 to 95 points with only two points behind Islanders. They would have outsmarted Sri Lanka if they clean swept the series against Australia.
Coming to series, the first Test saw an incredible fight from Pakistan, who fought against all the odds to draw the game. Pakistan completely dominated the game on the first three days of the game, but the incredible resistance from Usman Khawaja and Tim Paine did the trick.
Meanwhile, the second game of the series is completely dominated by the hosts. All the batsmen chipped in with decent tallies while Mohammad Abbas has been the star with the ball.
