Pakistan ended their ICC World Cup 2019 campaign with a win beating Bangladesh by 68 runs on July 5 (Friday) at the Lord’s Cricket Stadium in London. Despite that, Pakistan fell behind New Zealand’s net run-rate and had to bow out of the tournament. The Men in Greens needed to beat Bangladesh by a margin over 300 runs to beat the Kiwis in the net run-rate to make it to the semifinals. ICC mocked Pakistan on social media at the halfway stage as Sarfaraz Ahmed & Co needing to bowl out Bangladesh within seven runs.

ICC receive flat from Pakistan fans

Batting first, Pakistan banked on Imam-ul-Haq and Babar Azam along with a quickfire knock from Imad Wasim to post 315 runs on the board. Mustafizur Rahman picked a fifer, but the other Bangladeshi bowlers failed to rally behind him as Imad scored quick runs in the death. During the chase, Shakib Al Hasan kept Bangladesh in the hunt, but Shaheen Afridi’s six-wicket haul was enough to hand Pakistan their fifth win of the tournament.

Meanwhile, during the mid-innings break, ICC tweeted the number of runs within which Pakistan will have to bowl out Bangladesh with a GIF that was a clip from the 1994 Hollywood movie Dumb and Dumber. The film featured Jim Carrey in which the actor’s character is gleefully saying,

“So you’re telling me there’s a chance?”

Soon fans started accusing the ICC of trolling the Pakistan cricket team and its supporters. Several fans floated many conspiracy theories against Pakistan. They also accused ICC and the big teams like India, England and Australia to plot to get Pakistan out. Many fans also wrote that some Indian fans were controlling the ICC Twitter account.
