ICC World Cup 2019: Bangladesh Player’s Rating

Bangladesh have played some spirited cricket throughout the ICC World Cup 2019 despite ending the tournament on a losing note going down against Pakistan by 94 runs at the Lords. The Tigers finished with seven points from nine matches with three wins to their name.

Meanwhile, Shakib Al Hasan has been their brightest star contributing to all the departments. However, the young cricketers have failed to rally behind the top-ranked all-rounder which has hurt Bangladesh in the marquee tournament. The cricketers will look to draw confidence from here and come back stronger in the upcoming fixtures.

Tamim Iqbal, Bangladesh’s most experienced batsman, has struggled to put runs at the start; as a result, they have struggled to put runs on the board. Iqbal has managed to score only one 50+ score in the World Cup and thrown away the starts in most of the matches.

Meanwhile, this is not the end Tamim would have certainly wanted.

Soumya Sarkar (3.5/10)

Soumya Sarkar has had an awful debut World Cup as has failed to forge a good opening partnership with Tamim Iqbal at the top which has hurt Bangladesh badly. The southpaw has been unable to live up to the expectations put by the management.

The young batter will look to improve his game and come back stronger in the upcoming fixtures.

Shakib Al Hasan (9.5/10)

Shakib Al Hasan has been the brightest star for Bangladesh and one of the star performers in this World Cup. This tournament was tailor-made for this all-rounder who made significant marks with both bat and ball.

The top-ranked ODI all-rounder bows out of the World Cup as the highest run-scorer with 606 runs at an average of 86.57. Besides, he has scored two centuries and five fifties and claimed 11 wickets to be the only cricketer to score 400+ runs and pick ten wickets in one edition of the tournament. Shakib will go down as one of the best all-rounders to play the game of cricket.

Mushfiqur Rahim (wk) (8/10)

Mushfiqur Rahim had an outstanding tournament with the bat scoring 367 runs from nine matches including one hundred and two fifties. Bangladesh have put up a spirited performance in this tournament and Rahim is one of the significant contributors.

The wicket-keeper batsman will look to keep up the excellent work and raise Bangladesh’s game in the coming days.

Mahmudullah (6/10)

Bangladesh have failed to make it to the top four mainly due to their senior players failing to play big knocks and put the runs on the board. Mahmudullah‘s campaign is a perfect example of outing in this marquee tournament.

The veteran batsman has got starts in almost all the game but managed to make it big which has hut Bangladesh in the World Cup. He has managed to score 219 runs including one fifty and failed to make a mark in what is likely to be his last tournament.

Liton Das (5.5/10)

Liton Das made a stunning World Cup playing an unbeaten knock of 94 runs against Australia but ended up on the losing side. Since then, the talented batsman has got starts in every game but failed to capitalise on them as Bangladesh have struggled to put runs down the order.

The 24-year-old Liton will hope to work on this aspect and come out stronger after the World Cup.

Mosaddek Hossain has got enough opportunities but has failed to make a mark with both bat and ball. He has managed to pick only three wickets and scored 117 runs from eight matches which sum up Bangladesh’s campaign in this tournament.

The young all-rounder will have to improve his game to retain his place in the playing XI post the World Cup.

Mohammad Saifuddin (6.5/10)

Mohammad Saifuddin has had a great outing in the World Cup and has led the pace attack alongside Mustafizur Rahman. The young right-arm seamer has claimed 13 wickets from eight matches. Besides, he played a good knock against Indian in the lower-order and showed signs of being an all-rounder, Bangladesh is looking for.

Mehidy Hasan (4/10)

Mehidy Hasan has been economical throughout the tournament bowling in the powerplays. However, he managed to pick only six wickets from seven matches, and the management would have wanted the off-spinner to pick more wickets.

Mehidy is playing in his first World Cup and will only grow from here who has shown signs of being a great spinner.

Mashrafe Mortaza (c) (2/10)

Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza will bow out of the World Cup as their worst bowler. He has managed to pick only one wicket throughout the tournament which sums up their campaign.

Mortaza has admitted that this is his last World Cup and will look to improve his performance in the upcoming series.

Mustafizur Rahman (8/10)

Mustafizur Rahman had an excellent time in the World Cup for Bangladesh returning with 20 wickets including two consecutive five-wicket hauls against India and Pakistan. However, he lacked support from the other end as his side had a premature end to their campaign.

This outing will be a huge confidence booster for the young left-arm seamer who will come out stronger for Bangladesh after the World Cup.

Mohammad Mithun played three games at the start of the tournament and eventually, the management decided to drop him following his consistent failures. Mithun has managed to score only 47 runs including the highest score of 26.

Sabbir Rahman has had minimal opportunities in the World Cup for Bangladesh playing only two games. He came in as a replacement for injured Mehidy Hasan in their last match against India but failed to convert the good start. Sabbir has scored only 36 runs from the two games.
