ICC World Cup 2019: England Fans Taunt Fired Mitchell Starc, Reveals His Wife

Australia became the first team to book a semifinal berth in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019 defeating arch-rivals England by 64 runs at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. Jason Behrendorff and Mitchell Starc shared nine wickets to restrict the home side to 221 after setting by 285 runs. Starc, in particular, was of top-class bowling at a consistent pace and was accurate with his line and length. Meanwhile, his wife Alyssa Healy revealed what fired up the star paceman.

Starc was on fire at Lord’s

After putting to bat first, David Warner and skipper Aaron Finch got Australia off to a flying start adding 121 runs for the first wicket. It was a difficult wicket to bat, and gradually, the conditions got bad. Contributions from Alex Carey down the order helped the defending champions post a challenging total of 285 runs on the board at the end of 50 overs.

It was a tricky total to chase, and Jason Behrendorff got the perfect start for Australia. Mitchell Starc soon joined the party to dismiss Joe Root and Eoin Morgan to put England on the backfoot. Striving at 26 for three, Ben Stokes started the revival but lacked partners at the other end. Jos Buttler, Chris Woakes and Adil Rashid got starts but failed to capitalise which left Stokes alone to do the job. Behrendorff cleaned the tail with a five-wicket haul while Starc bagged four wickets to bowl out England for 221 runs to book a semifinal berth.

Mitchell Starc and Jason Behrendorff shared nine wickets among the ten that fell. With his four wickets haul, Starc overhauled Jofra Archer and Mohammad Amir to top of wickets chart in the World Cup so far. He has 19 scalps from six games with the best figures of 5.46. It was Australia’s women cricketer and wife of Starc Alyssa Healy, who revealed the reason for Starc being pumped up. Healy said a taunt from an England fan fired him up which Strac used in the field.
