ICC World Cup 2019: England Unveil Their New Kit for the Marquee Event

England Cricket Team have unveiled their new kit for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019 starting from May 30. Meanwhile, the manufacturers of the kit, New Balance have drawn inspiration from the 1992 World Cup to design the new kit.

Meanwhile,  England made three changes to their initial squad with Jofra Archer, Liam Dawson, and James Vince making it to the final 15. As a result, Joe Denly and David Willey missed out on the opportunity to play a World Cup after coming so close. The hosts will enter the tournament as the top-ranked ODI side and will be the favourites to win the trophy. They have been outstanding in the last few years and have only lost four ODI games since 2017. Eoin Morgan & Co will look to keep up the good work and bring home the trophy for the first time. However, the England cricketers will have to overcome high expectations and give their best shot in the quadrennial event.

The designers wanted to give the jersey a retro look; however, were unable to turn to their earlier appearances in the final, in 1979 at Lord’s and 1987 at Eden Gardens, because they were all day matches and consequently traditional white kit and a red ball was used. As a result, they decided to make the kit in line with 1992 jersey where they finished in the finals at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The jersey has different shades of blue along the collar lines with the Three Lions watermark present on the top of the left side of the jersey. Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see if a change in the design brings a change in their fortunes in the World Cup.
