India’s former southpaw opener Gautam Gambhir has given his point of view on the recent controversy against MS Dhoni‘s insignia gloves. Gambhir has stated the International Cricket Council should focus on cricket rather than notice who is wearing the gallows and the logo on it. MS Dhoni was seen donning the insignia gloves in the first match against South Africa at Rose Bowl, Southampton on 5th June.

Subsequently, the International Cricket Council asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India to get the symbol removed. However, the Indian board requested the governing body to let MS Dhoni wear the same gloves. But the BCCI request was rejected by the ICC.

Gambhir asks ICC to focus on the game.

“The ICC’s job is to run cricket in the right way, not to see who is wearing the gallows and the logo on it,” he said while talking with TV9 Bharatvarsh.

Meanwhile, Gautam Gambhir believes ICC should look to provide balance pitches which favours the bowlers as well. We have seen in the recent past that the game has gone in favour of the batters as the scores of 350 runs have become a norm.

“ICC ought to look into the matter that we should not have 300-400 run total. ICC’s job is to provide pitches for bowlers as well and not make the condition suitable for batters only. The entire logo issue is being given too much importance,” said Gambhir.

Meanwhile, MS Dhoni was seen sporting the insignia on his wicketkeeping gloves in the first match against South Africa. Since then Dhoni’s gloves have been in the news. In fact, the social media had shown its disappointment when ICC rejected BCCI plea to let Dhoni continue to wear the gloves.

On the other hand, former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar believes that the rules are there in place for a reason and they should be followed.

India will take on Australia at Kennington Oval, London on 9th June.
