ICC World Cup 2019: Kedar Jadhav Declared Fit, Assures MSK Prasad

Indian National Cricket Team all-rounder Kedar Jadhav, who sustained an injury during the IPL has regained his fitness, confirmed chief selectors MSK Prasad. Meanwhile, this will be a massive relief for Virat Kohli & Co as they gear up to leave for England. The Men in Blues will leave for the ICC World Cup 2019 in England and Wales on May 22.

Kedar Jadhav declared fit

Kedar Jadhav picked up an injury during Chennai Super Kings game against Kings XI Punjab in the recently concluded IPL. It was during Punjab’s innings, Jadhav sustained the injury while diving to save an overthrow at the boundary line in 14th over of Kings XI Punjab’s innings. He walked off the field, clutching his left shoulder and didn’t return for the remainder of the chase, which KXIP sealed with two overs to spare. Moreover, he didn’t take any further part in the tournament where Chennai went down against Mumbai Indians in the final by one run.

While there were reports that Kedar Jadhav might miss the first game, but MSK Prasad has confirmed that the all-rounder has regained his fitness and will travel with the squad. Physio Patrick Farhat came in early from Australia to monitor Jadhav’s injury. He worked with the all-rounder in Mumbai before conducting a fitness test last Thursday.

“We have got the medical certificate declaring Jadhav is fit to play in the World Cup. He will travel to the UK with the rest of the squad on Wednesday,” chief selector MSK Prasad informed CricketNext on Monday.

MSK Prasad also confirmed that Kedar Jadhav will be available for the tournament opener. However, his participation in practice games is yet not known. India will start their World Cup campaign against South Africa on June 5. They will play warm-up matches on May 25 and 28 against New Zealand and Bangladesh respectively.
