Former England opener Marcus Trescothick has backed his team to win the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019. England is one of the red hot favourites to lift the coveted trophy as they have played ruthless cricket in the last four years. The English team has qualified for the final of the World Cup on three occasions. However, they have failed to cross the last hurdle.

Meanwhile, Marcus Trescothick believes India, Australia and England are going to be the best three sides of the World Cup. However, it would be interesting to note the fourth team. In the meantime, New Zealand has come with consistent performances and they sit at the top of the points table with three wins in four matches with one match ending in no-result.

England has ticked the right boxes.

Trescothick said, “England all the way. The three best teams for me are England, India and Australia and then we will have to see who else will qualify for the semi-finals. It’s going to be a great competition. Hopefully, the weather improves over the next couple of days.”

On the other hand, former England off-spinner Graeme Swann believes there is no need to hit the panic button when England lost to Pakistan. Pakistan had surprised England by 14 runs and the former had come up with a fine performance.

‘I don’t think we will see a performance like that again from the World Cup favourites. The good news is that the defeat came early.

‘It’s a wake-up call and a kick up the backside and they will use this as a positive rather than a negative, and I’m certainly still backing them to go on for World Cup glory this summer.’

England has ticked the right boxes in the recent past and they would aim to continue their good work. Eoin Morgan has led with aplomb and England have won two out of the three matches they have played in the tournament. The hosts will next take on West Indies at Rose Bowl, Southampton on 14th June.
