ICC World Cup 2019: Match 14, India vs Australia – Match Prediction

The second Sunday of the ICC World Cup 2019 is all set to host a cracker of a game between Indian National Cricket Team and Australia at the Kennington Oval in London. While Australia have already played two matches, this will be India’s second tie, and they will be keen to win the encounter and set an early standard in the tournament.

Meanwhile, both the sides have met each other quite a few times this year. While  India defeated Australia overseas, Aaron Finch & Co returned the favour in India. The Aussies were 0-2 down at the start of the series before winning three consecutive games to win it 3-2. Since then, they have looked confident and have played some good cricket. Besides, the addition of Steven Smith and David Warner have also strengthened their squad. However, they struggled against the Windies quicks as assistant coach Ricky Ponting said it was a wake-up call and the team will recover from that soon.

On the other hand, India’s batting also looked patchy during their small chase against South Africa. It was Rohit Sharma’s unbeaten century which sealed the clash for them. Meanwhile, the top-order will have to come good against a better bowling attack which has the likes of Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins.

Moreover, India might think about playing one extra seamer seeing Australia’s weak links against short deliveries. Despite that, the onus will be on the two spinners – Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal to control the game in the middle overs, which will be one of the deciding factors. Meanwhile, the team will look to come forward from the debates over MS Dhoni’s insignia wicket-keeping gloves during Sunday’s encounter.

Sunday’s encounter between India and Australia will be the clash of the titans at the Kennington Oval. The Aussies have a rich history against the Men in Blues in the World Cups. So far, they have met 11 times with Australia winning it eight times, which shows their dominance over the Asian giants.

But this is a different Indian team under the leadership of Virat Kohli who knows how to put opponents under challenge. The second-ranked ODI side will be desperate to put their best feet forward and make it two out of two in the World Cup. And in all likelihood, they are likely to outplay the Aussies on Sunday.
