West Indies-Bangladesh eye a win

West Indies have mainly struggled due to the lack of application by their batsmen. The bowlers have been aggressive, and the likes of Oshane Thomas and Sheldon Cottrell have done an exciting job with the new ball. Jason Holder and Andre Russell have also chipped with useful contributions in the middle overs. However, it is the batsmen who need to raise their game against Bangladesh. The likes of Nicholas Pooran and Shimron Hetmyer need to show more responsibility and bat longer to help West Indies register good totals on the board.

On the other hand, Bangladesh’s success in the tournament so far has revolved around Shakib Al Hasan’s contributions with the bat at No.3. He has done the bulk of the scoring for his side and has struggled for success from his teammates and other senior cricketers. Besides, the bowling has succumbed to the pressure failing to create wicket-taking opportunities. Skipper Mashrafe Mortaza will hope for a much-improved performance against a strong West Indies line-up, and lead the efforts himself with the ball, who so far has had a mild World Cup.

Pitch Conditions

A flat track with a lot of assistance on offer for the bowlers beckons both sets of sides who look to outplay each other. The previous game here saw Australia defend 307, which could be enough considering the overcast conditions at the ground.

Weather Forecast

The temperatures will be hovering around 18 degrees Celsius with significant cloud covers during the game. The overcast skies will provide assistant to the fast bowlers keeping the pacers from both the camps excited.

Meanwhile, there are chances of rain playing a spoilsport once again in Taunton. However, there are very less chances of a washout. Skippers from West Indies and Bangladesh will keep the DRS in mind during the toss time.

Match Prediction

Coming into this game, West Indies have always dominated the Tigers in the World Cup. So far they have played four games winning three of them. However, Bangladesh recently defeated Jason Holder & Co to win their first tri-series involving Ireland leading to the World Cup. Despite that, West Indies will have a slight advantage over their opponents considering that they have a few match-winners in their ranks.
