South Africa, on the other hand, have had their worst campaign in the history of the World Cup. This is the second time since their debut in the World Cup in 1992; the Proteas have failed to cross the group stages. They will want to salvage their pride in the last two games and spoil the party of the other contenders. Faf du Plessis & Co will look to tick all the box and finish the tournament on a high. David Miller will miss the game, which will allow someone else to showcase his talent.

Date and Venue: Sri Lanka vs South Africa on June 28 (Friday) at 3:00 PM IST, at Riverside Ground, Chester-le-Street

Toss Report

South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis has won the toss and elected to bowl first against Sri Lanka at the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street.

Here is what the captains said,

Faf du Plessis

We gonna have a bowl, Nas. it’s fresh pitch and hoping to get some seam movement, looks a good pitch and doesn’t spin too much in the second innings. Two changes for us. Pretorious and Duminy come in for Ngidi and Miller. We are playing an extra batter today and hopefully, that allows our batters to bat more freely. Deserved everything that had come towards us. We have played some good cricket and we have not been consistent enough.

Dimuth Karunaratne

We wanted to bat first, seems like a good track and we feel we can put a good score and defend that. One change for us, Suranga Lakmal comes in for Nuwan Pradeep. We just want to win this match and see how the next two games unfold.
