India, England among favourites: Holding
Since England’s ouster from the 2015 World Cup, England led by the Eoin Morgan has played a different brand of cricket. They have come out aggressive taking on the opposition and have looked invincible in this format of the game. As a result, they are currently at the top of the ICC ODI Rankings. In the last two years, England have won 34 of their 49 games while three of them produced no result. Moreover, the statistics drastically improves when England plays at home. They have lost only four games out of the 22 matches in since January 2017 which shows their dominance in this format.

On the other hand, India have also done significantly well in the last two years while Australia have picked up the right moment in pursuit of their title defence. Michael Holding feels these three teams will be the title contenders for the upcoming ICC World Cup.
“England are playing at home. They have really displayed well in ODI cricket recently. They really have a balanced side. India have been outstanding. They are consistent. They have good players. I will not be surprised if England or India win the cup this time,” Holding said to TOI.
The upcoming World Cup will be the most competitive tournament in the history of the competition. Any team can beat others on any given day and round-robin league format will make the tournament even more exciting. The final of the tournament is on July 14 at the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground.
