Dhoni will play a different role

The former India skipper’s game-reading ability is better than anyone in world cricket currently. Besides, his guidance to the young bowlers from behind the stumps make him stand apart. Also, MS Dhoni can be the answer to India’s middle order batting problems. He has been in terrific form since the start of 2019 scoring three consecutive half-centuries in Australia to leading the charge for Chennai Super Kings.

Dhoni’s ten-year older brother Narendra Singh Dhoni also spoke highly of the former’s match-reading capability. Narendra pointed out two highlights of MS Dhoni’s captaincy from the finals of 2007 and 2011 World Cups. However, he revealed that this time, Dhoni’s role will be different but will be crucial to the team’s success.

“For me, Mahi’s contribution in the two finals is the biggest — as a captain, in placing a fielder at short fine-leg to take Pakistan’s last wicket in the final, in 2007 (World T20) and as a batsman, coming up the order in the final, in 2011 (ICC World Cup). This time, his role is different but very important,” says Narendra.
