On the other hand, Sri Lanka had also won their match against Afghanistan. Sri Lanka’s was inspired by a fine bowling performance as Lasith Malinga and Nuwan Pradeep had hit the right line and length. However, there is no denying the fact that the Sri Lankan team will need to pull their game in the batting department.

Pakistan will start as favourites.

The Island nation had crumbled down like a pack of cards against Afghanistan despite getting off to a good start. Thus, Sri Lanka can not afford to make the same mistakes against a side like Pakistan.

Meanwhile, there was a day and night difference between the performance of Pakistan against Windies and England. Pakistan will need to come up with more consistent performance and they would not like to be brilliant only in patches.

Pakistan batting had ticked the right boxes after an ordinary performance against the Windies. The Men in Green were able to post a massive tally of 348 runs and would aim to repeat their show. Furthermore, their bowling had provided the wickets at crucial intervals of the game.

Match Prediction: Pakistan will start the contest as favourites against the depleted Sri Lankan side. If Pakistan can repeat their Trent Bridge performance, they would be too good for Dimuth Karunaratne-led side. On the other hand, Sri Lanka will need to come up with a better batting performance to challenge the Pakistan side.
