India have made a thumping start to their ICC World Cup 2019 winning five of the six games so far while one ended in a washout. They recently spoiled the party of West Indies’ party beating them by 125 runs at the Old Trafford. The last two matches have raised questions on MS Dhoni’s style of batting where he has failed to get going in the middle overs. While skipper Virat Kohli backed Dhoni calling him a legend, India’s head coach Ravi Shastri has now jumped in his support and called him a champion.
Shastri backs underfire Dhoni
MS Dhoni has struggled to score runs in the middle overs which have put abundance pressure in the death. He also has failed to dominate the spinners, which in turn have affected India’s run-rate. Dhoni was at the heart of the criticism with the cricketing pundits calling this as a wake-up call ahead of the business end of the tournament. However, Virat Kohli had the back of his senior statesman calling him a legend.
The India skipper said that MS Dhoni knows his role in the playing XI and the whole team is backing up him to come out of an off day. Kohli also called him a legend and stated that Dhoni has won matches eight out of ten times for India.
“Dhoni knows exactly what he wants to do in the middle. When he has an off day here and there, everyone starts talking. We always back him. He has won us so many games,” Kohli said at the end of the West Indies game.
And now the former cricketer has got the support of his coach, Ravi Shastri. The former India cricketer expressed his thoughts on both the cricketers calling them champions despite having different personalities.
