Former Indian legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar has put his weight behind Mohammed Shami to deliver the goods in the absence of injured Bhuvneshwar Kumar. India’s pack leader Bhuvneshwar Kumar had pulled a hamstring against Pakistan after bowling 2.4 overs. Thus, Kumar has been ruled out for the next three games.

Subsequently, Mohammed Shami who is the third seamer in India’s squad is expected to fill in the shoes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Shami has made a roaring comeback into white ball format and he has bowled with fire. Hence, Shami is expected to do a good job in Bhuvnehswar Kumar’s absence.

In fact, Mohammed Shami had scalped 17 wickets in the 2015 World Cup in Australia. However, continuous injuries kept him out of action.

Tendulkar told India Today, “He is sharper than you think and I really like his approach to the stumps. He has got beautiful run-up. I think, if Mohammed Shami plays the next game, he is a danger customer upfront. He has the potential to provide breakthroughs. I know it wasn’t good to lose Shikhar but that has given KL Rahul an opportunity to go out and get some runs. Similarly, the Indian team would want to protect Bhuvneshwar so that he is part of the tournament at an important stage. This is going to give Shami some match practice and come back to form.”
