Former Indian batsman and current commentator Sanjay Manjrekar has a piece of advice for former skipper MS Dhoni. Manjrekar has urged MS Dhoni to maintain a run-a-ball strike rate from the get-go. However, Dhoni hasn’t been able to hit the ground running in the recent past and he struggles to get going against the spinners in the initial phase of his innings.

Meanwhile, there have been innings when Dhoni has looked positive from the start. He can hit the big shots and has the experience to take the game deep. However, there is no doubt that Dhoni’s power-hitting abilities are on the wane in the last two years. He had a disappointing 2018 but he was able to turn the tables in 2019.

Dhoni’s abilities with the bat are on the wane.

In fact, Sanjay Manjrekar has suggested that the think tank should ask Dhoni to score his runs at a strike rate of 100.

“I wish that team management tells Dhoni to maintain a run a ball start and then see how it goes. I love Dhoni best when he has gone in to bat like the warm-up matches. I like when he scores 30 runs from 30 balls. If the team is 12/2, then I can understand his approach of defence. Once he is in around 20-22 overs, then he should look to play run-a-ball,” Manjrekar told ANI.

Meanwhile, Dhoni has been the talk of the town as he showed no interest to chase down the target of 338 runs against England. Dhoni scored 42 runs from 31 balls but there was no intent in his shot-making as he didn’t look for the big shots.

On the other hand, Kedar Jadhav scored only 12 runs off 13 balls as he also failed to get going. India failed to show any fight in the last ten overs as they scored 72 runs and lost one wicket. MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav added 39 runs in 31 balls and scored only three fours and a solitary six in their partnership. Thus, it was surprising to note the approach from Dhoni and Jadhav.
