Kohli stood tall to score his fourth consecutive fifty in this World Cup. Although he failed to cross the three-figure mark getting out for 72, MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya‘s late contribution helped India post 268 runs – a challenging total on the board.

While it looked like India were a few runs short, the bowlers led by Mohammed Shami stood up to the task. Shami started the proceedings removing Chris Gayle and Shai Hope early almost finishing their chances of winning this game. The inswinger to dismiss Hope was one the best deliveries of the tournament as it came back after pitching taking the batsman by surprise. The spinners and Jasprit Bumrah dominated the middle overs before the Bengal pacer returned to clean off the tail. Shami returned with figures of four for 16 in 6.2 overs, thus taking his tally to eight wickets from two matches.

Suresh Raina heaped praise on the bowlers for covering up the shortage of runs in style. The veteran batsman also hailed Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Shami in particular for their spectacular effort.
