The recent Pulwama Terror attack has created a stir countrywide as a Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) rammed an explosives-laden car into a CRPF bus, killing at least 40 personnel and leaving many critically wounded. Following the incident, India have cut several ties with the neighbouring country, and there have been calls of boycotting Pakistan in the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019.

Veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has called for a boycott of Pakistan match to show their protest. On the other hand, Chetan Chauhan wants India to put pressure on ICC threatening to boycott the whole event. Many have joined the chorus with Harbhajan in boycotting the tournament. India will take on their arch-rivals Pakistan on June 16 at Manchester. The issue is likely to rise up in the upcoming ICC meetings between February 27 to March 2 in Dubai.

There is absolutely no constitutional or contractual way this could happen. the ICC constitution allows members the right to participate in ICC events as long as they’ve qualified,” a BCCI official told PTI.

Amid the rising speculation, the CoA, comprising Chairman Vinod Rai and former women’s captain Diana Edulji, will be meeting in Delhi on Friday to discuss the issue of multiple bodies claiming representation of Uttarakhand. But the Pakistan problem is likely to cast a shadow on what was to be a regular meet.

We will discuss all possible options tomorrow and do what is best for the country,” Edulji told PTI.

A top BCCI source said even if a note is sent and the ICC agrees to put it out in front of member boards for a vote, India is unlikely to find any support from other nations.
