Of late, Chris Gayle has become a most consistent batsman for Windies in the limited overs setup. He found his touch when it mattered the most by smashing the opposition bowlers to all corners of the park. The flamboyant batsman is confident of making things fall in place for his side during the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019.

The upcoming ICC World Cup 2019 set to watch quite a few legendary players calling curtains on their International career. One of them would be Chris Gayle, who recently confirmed that he is not going to don Windies Jersey in ODI format after the completion of ICC World Cup 2019.

The swashbuckling batsman quoted that the youngsters are trying to get into his head. However, Gayle isn’t worried about that as he knew that youngsters are aware of what he is capable of doing on the field. Further, he went on to add saying that the fast bowlers would fear of him while delivering in the middle.

“Youngsters coming at my head – it’s not as easy as it was like one time before,” Gayle told cricket.com.au. “I was quicker than. But they’ll be wary. They know what the Universe Boss is capable of. I’m sure they will have it in the back of their mind, ‘Hey, this is the most dangerous batsman they’ve ever seen in cricket.”

Chris Gayle also challenged the reporter asking them to give a question to youngsters. He stated that those players will not confess on the camera but of the camera, they would surely do.

“Go ask them on camera. They’re going to say, no, they’re not scared. But you ask them of the camera, they going to say, ‘Yeah, he’s the man. He’s the man.’ They’re going to say, ‘he’s the man.’ But they won’t say it (on camera), they won’t be frank and upfront and say, ‘Listen to me straight up, Chris Gayle is the man.”

The stylish southpaw quoted that those challenges with the bowlers will push him to go hard in the middle. Chris Gayle wants to take them as the pick-me-up thing. Gayle feels that he is in a good nick ahead of the tournament and wants to focus on his fitness.

“But I’m enjoying it. I’m always enjoying the battle against fast bowlers, it’s good. Sometimes those things actually give you extra drive as a batter. When you have a battle, I like those challenges. “I am still in good nick,” he said. “I had a not-so-bad IPL, coming after the home series against England. It’s a long tournament. For me personally I just have to monitor it as much as possible and just get the mindset right.”

Chris Gayle holds the record for most centuries by a West Indian in ODIs, with 25, as well as the highest score of 215, which he scored in the last edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2015 against Zimbabwe. Gayle is also handy with the ball, picking up 165 wickets.
