India bounced back in style after their defeat against England to post a massive target of 314 runs against Bangladesh on July 2 (Tuesday) at Edgbaston in Birmingham. It will be a tough ask for the Mashrafe Mortaza-led side who needs to win this game to keep in contention for a semifinal spot.

Meanwhile, India made a couple of changes going into this game after their defeat against host England. Last match centurion Rohit Sharma once again got India off to an extremely good start alongside KL Rahul.  They added 180 runs for the first wicket which is also the highest first wicket partnership for India in the World Cups. Rohit took on the Bangladesh bowlers to bring his fourth World Cup century and in the process broke a handful of records. Rahul also didn’t lag too much and brought his fifty which will give some confidence going into the next game.

Rohit Sharma departed soon after scoring 104 runs while playing a mistimed shot as Bangladesh capitalised on the opportunity getting the better of KL Rahul to have India at 195 for two. Skipper Virat Kohli was looking good alongside young Rishabh Pant as the both rotated the strike while the boundaries kept coming. But Mustafizur Rahman brought Bangladesh back into the game with two strikes in the same over dismissing Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya.

Bangladesh bowlers bowled some good spells to bring down the scoring rate. Shakib Al Hasan bowled some brilliant overs to cut down the free flow of runs as MS Dhoni once again struggled to get going. Mustafizur capitalised on it to dismiss Dinesh Karthik to have India at 298 for six in 47.2 overs. His struggled continued as India could manage to post only 314 runs at the end of 50 overs with Mustafizur finishing with a five-wicket haul.
