ICC World Cup 2019: Twitter Erupts in Joy as KL Rahul Seals the No 4 Berth
Updated - 29 May 2019, 02:38 PM
Indian National Cricket Team have likely found their no four batsman in KL Rahul after the star batsman scored a brilliant century against Bangladesh in the second warm-up game at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff.
Rahul solves India’s batting problems
Meanwhile, India lost Shikhar Dhawan early after Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza asked India to bat first after winning the toss. Mustafizur Rahman trapped Dhawan in front to have the Men in Blues at five for one. Since then, skipper Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma looked to bail their side out. Just when they looked to take the game away from Bangladesh, Rubel Hussain struck to bring his side back in the game. Kohli also followed the pack soon after a brilliant yorker from Saifuddin crashed his timber.

However, after that, the second-ranked ODI team was all over the Bangladesh team. KL Rahul combined well with MS Dhoni to lead the charge. They added a 100+ partnership to set up a big total. Especially, Rahul was spectacular to watch with his drives and lofts over the boundary ropes. Dhoni also matched with Rahul and took on spinners to bring a broad smile on Virat Kohli’s face.
KL Rahul, who came to England on the back of an impressive IPL, made things count after missing on the first warm-up game. He finished as the second-highest run scorer in the tournament with 593 runs after David Warner. The Karnataka opener looked in sublime touch which will help Kohli & Co breathe a sigh of relief. Rahul reached his century with a single off Sabbir Rahman but got out soon while playing a big shot.
What a knock from KL Rahul!
His century arrives from just 94 balls – he's put on 153 with MS Dhoni!#BANvIND | #CWC19

India are currently well-placed at 268 for five in 44 overs with set MS Dhoni and inform Hardik Pandya in the crease.
Twitter Reactions:
@klrahul11 has shunted Vijay Shankar out of the no.4 slot clearly. Whether Shankar can get no.6 slot in first match depends on whether team management believes playing Jadhav is risk-free as also the conditions at Southampton on June 5

I'm not normally big on reading too much into warm-up games but I think class has spoken and, at least for the start of the #CWC2019, India has found number four. @klrahul11

Rahul’s form….or perhaps, the lack of runs from the openers in both the warm-up matches will seal the deal for him at Number 4. #CWC19

Big innings for KL Rahul this. Probably will define what shape India's middle order will take in this World Cup. #IndvsBan #BANvIND #CWC19

Vijay Shankar has no one but to blame himself.
It was clearly in favour of him as we have seem MSK Prasad prefering him and no doubt that echoed the feelings of coach and captain as well.
KL Rahul deserves this and he will be no.4 .— shodhan t shetty (@hereiamSHODhan) May 28, 2019

Today in #INDvBAN match KL Rahul is in full touch and confirming his place after Shankar getting out cheaply. It would be amazing if kl rahul finishes the innings and make a high individual score. pic.twitter.com/seB8He2Tms

KL Rahul bats like he is either Dravid or Rohan Gavaskar. There is no inbetween.

So KL Rahul at Number 4 this WC?
This innings from Dhoni brings relief to captain as middle order was considered to to weak link before WC!
By the looks of it, Top order is having lots of questions to answer than middle order! #INDvBAN

Exactly. My 11 on June 5 would be – Rohit, Dhawan, Kohli, KL, MS, Pandya, Jadeja, Bhuvi, Shami, Yuzhi and Bumrah.

It's highly unlikely that Vijay Shankar is going to get the nod for the No 4 spot post this terrific show from KL Rahul. He and Dhoni have both carried the confidence of the brilliant IPL season with him and it shows #INDvBAN #INDvsBAN #ICCWorldCup2019 #ICCCricketWorldCup2019
