ICC World Cup 2019: Twitter Reacts as India Registers a Comfortable Win Against Pakistan

India proved to be too good for Pakistan as the Men in Blue defeated Pakistan by a massive margin of 89 runs by Duckworth Lewis method at Manchester on Sunday. The Indian team posted a gargantuan score of 336 runs after they were put into bat by Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed. India’s vice-captain Rohit Sharma scored a fine knock of 140 runs whereas Virat Kohli and KL Rahul scored half-centuries.

Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul gave a perfect start to the Indian team. The right-handers timed the ball with perfection and gave no chance to Pakistan team apart from their sloppy running between the wickets. Rohit Sharma had the rub of the green when Fakhar Zaman chose to throw at the wrong end.

Rohit Sharma was on 32 and the Pakistan team had to pay the price for letting that chance slip. The flamboyant batsman took Pakistan bowlers to cleaners and only Mohammad Amir was able to keep Rohit quiet.

Both the openers added 136 runs to give a fine platform to the side. However, KL Rahul was dismissed when he could not keep his cover drive to the ground. Kohli was able to hit the ground and ran hard between the wickets to convert the ones into twos. The Indian skipper scored a fine knock of 77 runs and also became the fastest to 11000 ODI runs.

However, India could not add the finishing touches as they scored 51 runs in the last six overs. On the other hand, Pakistan lost the wicket of Imam-ul-Haq early when the southpaw was plumbed in front by Vijay Shankar’s first ball after he replaced Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam were able to get Pakistan back into the contest with a fine alliance of 104 runs. However, Kuldeep Yadav was able to find the gulf between bat and pad of Babar Azam which led to the collapse. Pakistan lost four wickets for 12 runs and the match was done and dusted there.
