ICC World Cup 2019: Twitter Reacts as India Registers a Comfortable Win Against Pakistan
Updated - 17 Jun 2019, 05:21 PM
India proved to be too good for Pakistan as the Men in Blue defeated Pakistan by a massive margin of 89 runs by Duckworth Lewis method at Manchester on Sunday. The Indian team posted a gargantuan score of 336 runs after they were put into bat by Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed. India’s vice-captain Rohit Sharma scored a fine knock of 140 runs whereas Virat Kohli and KL Rahul scored half-centuries.
Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul gave a perfect start to the Indian team. The right-handers timed the ball with perfection and gave no chance to Pakistan team apart from their sloppy running between the wickets. Rohit Sharma had the rub of the green when Fakhar Zaman chose to throw at the wrong end.
Complete performance from India.
Rohit Sharma was on 32 and the Pakistan team had to pay the price for letting that chance slip. The flamboyant batsman took Pakistan bowlers to cleaners and only Mohammad Amir was able to keep Rohit quiet.
Both the openers added 136 runs to give a fine platform to the side. However, KL Rahul was dismissed when he could not keep his cover drive to the ground. Kohli was able to hit the ground and ran hard between the wickets to convert the ones into twos. The Indian skipper scored a fine knock of 77 runs and also became the fastest to 11000 ODI runs.
However, India could not add the finishing touches as they scored 51 runs in the last six overs. On the other hand, Pakistan lost the wicket of Imam-ul-Haq early when the southpaw was plumbed in front by Vijay Shankar’s first ball after he replaced Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam were able to get Pakistan back into the contest with a fine alliance of 104 runs. However, Kuldeep Yadav was able to find the gulf between bat and pad of Babar Azam which led to the collapse. Pakistan lost four wickets for 12 runs and the match was done and dusted there.
Here is how Twitter reacted to India’s win:

7 points from 4 games. Strong performances. Many match winners. I think the semi-final is just about putting the key in the lock

No one should be allowed to call it a rivalry anymore. ????

Hardik Pandya so lucky to get that wicket. The bail actually came off.

A @Hublot ? for Rohit!

India's running between the wickets vs Pakistan's fielding. A match made in heaven.#CWC19 #INDvPAK

And so, another one-sided #INDvPAK contest. Other than hoping to get in through D/L at one stage, Pakistan were never in the hunt.
— Harsha Bhogle (@bhogleharsha) June 16, 2019
Batting first might have helped Pakistan….but that must not be an excuse to hide from the fact that the gulf between the two teams is HUGE. Asia Cup in familiar conditions showed it. Today’s another validation. #IndvPak #CWC19

So very happy to see @imkuldeep18 has got his non-bowling arm lot straighter. Bowling lot flatter n hurrying the batsman off the surface ???#INDvPAK

I may delete Twitter just so I don’t have to see another tweet reading “He’s saying Ben Stokes”(when he’s clearly not?)in reply to a video of Virat saying you know what ?♂️?♂️it was funny the first 100,000 times.

Congratulations to @BCCI on a well deserved win today. The standard of cricket being played has been exceptionally high & credit goes to IPL for not only helping identify & harness talent, but also in equipping younger players with pressure handling techniques #CWC19 #PAKVIND https://t.co/MfiwQxwjrK

Consider below teams. Reflects how Indian cricket’s grown in heft past 20 yrs while Pak has stagnated.
INDIA:Sachin, Rohit, Kohli, Yuvi, Azhar, MSD(c),Kapil, Kumble, Bhajji, Zaheer, Bumrah
PAK:Anwar, Majid, Zaheer, Inzy, Asif Iqbal, Imran(c),Moin Khan, Akram, Qadir, Waqar, Shoaib— Cricketwallah (@cricketwallah) June 16, 2019
Wasim Akram "Indian cricket has invested everything in First-Class cricket not just in last few years. In Pakistan we've hardly done anything about our First-Class system & change it every year. Our FC cricket was run by a random journalist for some odd reason, I don't know why"

Sarfraz Ahmed obviously did not heed the advice of his Prime Minister to bat first after winning the toss https://t.co/KddMfJNpDt

Brilliant. Given the situation, the intensity of the match and the fluency of his batting, this must be one of his most satisfying. Such class.
