It is hardly a case when India’s former skipper MS Dhoni is in controversy. However, MS Dhoni made headlines when he sported insignia on his wicket-keeping gloves in the World Cup opening match against South Africa at Rose Bowl, Southampton on 5th June. Meanwhile, the ICC asked the BCCI to remove the insignia from MS Dhoni’s gloves.

Subsequently, the Indian board requested the International Cricket Council to let Dhoni wear the insignia. However, ICC did not grant permission to the same request. Hence, MS Dhoni will not be seen wearing normal gloves in the second World Cup match against Australia at Kennington Oval, London.

Twitter shows its disappointment.

“The regulations for ICC events do not permit any individual message or logo to be displayed on any items of clothing or equipment. In addition to this, the logo also breaches the regulations in relation to what is permitted on wicketkeeper gloves,” ICC said on MS Dhoni’s gloves.

However, Twitter showed its disappointment when MS Dhoni was not allowed to wear the insignia on his gloves. Dhoni has a huge fan following and it was expected that the fans will give their opinions.

In fact, this is not the first time when MS Dhoni showed his love for the armed forces. He has time and again wore camouflage gloves while keeping wickets for India. The former captain was appointed as the Lieutenant Colonel in Territorial Army in 2015.

Meanwhile, India had begun their World Cup campaign on a high after they registered a six-wicket against South Africa. Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzvendra Chahal scalped two wickets and four wickets respectively.

Subsequently, Rohit Sharma played a fine knock of 122 runs from 144 balls to help India get over the line. Thus, he was awarded the Man of the Match. India will play their second match against defending champions Australia at Kennington Oval, London on 9th June.
