ICC World Cup 2019: Vijay Shankar Finally Breaks His Silence on Ambati Rayudu's 3D Glass Comment

The ICC World Cup 2019 in England and Wales is only a few days away, and the participating teams have started playing warm-up to fine tune their combinations. Meanwhile, there have been with almost all the squads; however, a few surprise selection in the Indian National Cricket caused a stir across the length and breadth of the country. The selection panel headed by MSK Prasad picked all-rounder Vijay Shankar ahead of Ambati Rayudu for his three-dimensional ability. Soon after the snub, Rayudu took to Twitter to take a dig at the selectors saying that he has ordered a 3D glass to watch the World Cup. All-rounder Vijay Shankar has finally broken his silence on the comments and has extended his support to the veteran batsman.

All eyes on Shankar

Meanwhile, the Indian National Cricket Team have reached London on May 22 and has started their training. They will take on New Zealand in their first warm-up game on May 25 (Saturday). The Men in Blues will play another practice game on May 28 before they begin their World Cup campaign on June 5 against South Africa at Southampton. All eyes will be on Vijay Shankar who is likely to bat at four when the tournament kicks off.

However, soon after the team selection, Ambati Rayudu took a sly dig at the selectors. Meanwhile, the veteran batsman has been out of socks in recent times and also had a poor IPL. He wrote on Twitter that he had ordered a pair of 3D glass for the World Cup. Notably, MSK Prasad while resonating said that Vijay Shankar’s three-dimensional quality got him a ticket to England.

Shankar comes in support of Rayudu

Soon after Ambati Rayudu posted the tweet, there was a massive social media uproar among the fans. Many were of the opinion that Rayudu targeted Vijay Shankar. However, the Tamil Nadu all-rounder in a recent chat at a show called Breakfast With Champions revealed that the comments were not for him.

“I know for the fact that how a cricketer would feel if they are not being picked. I can understand from a player’s point of view. And I know for the fact that he didn’t mean it to me. It was just that he put that tweet for the sake of it. I can understand the situation in which he was. It is fine for any cricketer,” Shankar said.

Meanwhile, Vijay Shankar has sustained an injury during the training sessions and will miss the warm-up against NewZealand.
