India’s former World Cup-winning skipper Kapil Dev stated that current captain Virat Kohli and former leader MS Dhoni are unmatchable. Both the talisman players have done a fabulous job for the India National Cricket Team and they are going to hold the key in the World Cup. Kohli has been the most consistent batsman in the game and Dhoni’s return to form is a big boost for the side ahead of the World Cup.

Meanwhile, Kapil Dev added the team has a good amalgamation of youth and experience. Thus, they would like to go all the way in the ODI showpiece. In fact, India has most of the bases covered and they would like to come up with a complete performance in England and Wales.

We have the right balance – Kapil Dev.

Kapil Dev believes the Indian team has a right balance in their team which is the key to success in the tournament like the World Cup.

“India has a great combination of youth and experience. In a way, they are more experienced than the other teams. They have the right balance – four fast bowlers, three spinners and they have Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni,” International Cricket Council quoted Kapil Dev as saying on Thursday.

“Dhoni and Kohli have done extremely well for India. Both of them are unmatchable,” he said.

On the other hand, India is considered as one of the favourites for the World Cup. India has been one of the consistent teams in the recent past and Virat Kohli‘s men will like to deliver the goods. Kapil Dev believes India will qualify for the semi-final.

“I think India will definitely finish in the top four. After that, it will be really difficult. After the semifinals, a stroke of luck alongside personal and team performance will determine who goes forward,” he said.

Furthermore, India has shown an upward in their bowling graph. The team has potent bowlers in its ranks as Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have bowled with great success. Moreover, the role of Hardik Pandya as a bowler is going to be crucial.

“The four fast bowlers we have are fantastic. The English conditions will help them swing the ball. The players like Mohammad Shami and Jasprit Bumrah can bowl 145kph, with swing and pace,” Kapil Dev said.

India will begin their World Cup campaign against South Africa on 5th June at Southampton.
