There is absolutely no stopping India in the ICC World Test Championship at the moment. The Virat Kohli-led side has looked almost invincible since the start of the Championship. India, who are at the top of the ICC Test Rankings for more than three years now, started their campaign against West Indies and have won all the six Tests they have played so far.

On Saturday, they thrashed Bangladesh by an innings and 130 runs to win the first Test. Despite losing the toss, India remained ahead in the contest right from the word go. As far as Bangladesh are concerned, nothing much went their way in the game. The writing was very much on the wall for them once they were all out for just 150 in the first innings.

In reply, India declared their innings after piling up a mammoth total of 493 for 6.  The hosts rode on their in-form opener Mayank Agarwal’s career-best 243 to post the big total. The likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma failed but Agarwal made sure to keep India ahead. He was well supported by Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara and Ravindra Jadeja as all three scored fifties.

Bangladesh had a mountain to climb in the second innings as they trailed by 343 runs. And they failed miserably once again as they were folded up for just 213. The visitors started disastrously as their openers – Imrul Kayes and Shadman Islam – departed for just 16 runs on the board. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were five down for just 73.

Bangladesh were looking set to be folded up for less than 200 once again but a fighting fifty from veteran Mushfiqur Rahim saved them the blushes. With the loss, Bangladesh failed to open their account in the ICC World Test Champions points table. India, on the other hand, consolidated their position at the top of the heap.

The Virat Kohli-led side became the first team to touch the 300-point mark while no other team has more than 60 points. New Zealand and Sri Lanka are second and third respectively with 60 points each.

Here is the current status of ICC World Test Championship points table:
