Virender Sehwag, the mentor and head of cricketing operation of Kings XI Punjab, has heaped praises on Yuvraj Singh and has said that he can prove to be match-winner. Sehwag was speaking at an event named ‘Election se Selection’, which is also related to IPL,

“He’s not in the Indian team, but Yuvraj is still an amazing player. His talent is intact. Even a current India player can lose form. I don’t think we’ll get a player like him again. If his form is good, he’s a match-winner,” he said.

With this, Sehwag has also given an indication that Yuvraj will be on the radar of Kings XI Punjab and there are chances of Yuvraj going back to his former team; if Punjab is ready to buy Yuvraj at any price.

Until a few years back, Yuvraj was one of the hottest properties in IPL as in 2014 auction, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) spent an amount of Rs 14 Crores on him. However, they were not happy with the results and Yuvraj was released.

Later, Delhi Daredevils (DD) purchased him for an amount Rs 16 Crores and but again, Yuvraj was released next year as he could not produce the desired results.

In IPL auction 2016, Yuvraj’s price came down to Rs 7 Crore and he was not released by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), who purchased him 2016, and he played for them till 2017. He was not one of the two players to be retained by SRH as they decided to retain David Warner and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Since Yuvraj is not apart of the Indian team, presently, there are fewer chances of him drawing a big contract as his form in IPL has been average in past few years. Still, he will be one of the players to look out for as he has been put in the list of marquee players along with 15 players, which includes R Ashwin, Gautam Gambhir, Harbhajan Singh to name a few.

The auction for the upcoming season will take place on January 27 and 28 in Bangalore where a total of 578 players will be up for grab, as per the list released by BCCI. Out of 578, there are a total of 360 Indians and rest are foreigners. This time, a total of 10 Afghanistan players has increased to 10 while there is just one player from Ireland in form of Paul Stirling.
