Experienced Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell recently admitted he is hopeful to play Test cricket again and is keen to get into the Australia squad for Tests.

Meanwhile, Maxwell returned to form with a match-winning knock against Zimbabwe. He will be crucial against Pakistan later on Sunday in the T20I tri-series final.

Admitting he has struggled to grab the opportunity entirely, Maxwell stated he is up for the task.

I would love an opportunity to play in the Test team again. I have had mixed opportunities with the Test side and probably haven’t quite grabbed it with both hands every time I have had the opportunity,” Maxwell said to cricket.com.au. “If I do get the opportunity I will hopefully take it with both hands this time,” he added.

The batting all-rounder has played seven Test matches scoring 339 runs with an average of 26. The 29-year old Maxwell is likely to skip Australia A tour to India to prepare for the two-test series against Pakistan.

I think between now and the UAE it will just be a lot of training and making sure my body is right for that tour. I was hoping to go on it (Australia A’s tour of India), but as they pointed out I have been to India 16 or 17 times so there is no real need for me to go over there and prove what I can do,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, Australia is going through a tough phase after the ball-tampering incident in South Africa.

England whitewashed them in the limited-over series. However, Australia showed characters to come back to Zimbabwe.
