Riding on whirlwind knocks from Prithvi Shaw, Mayank Agarwal and Shubman Gill, India A piled up a mammoth 458 for four against Leicestershire in the third warm-up game on Tuesday.

Rahul Dravid’s men are warming up for the ODI tri-series involving England and the Windies in style. After thrashing England Cricket Board XI by 125 runs in the first warm-up tie, they are looking set for even a more significant win on Tuesday.

Shreyas Iyer’s decision to bat first turned out to be spot on. Openers Prithvi Shaw and Mayank Agarwal came out all guns blazing to stun the hosts.

Agarwal set the tone for the innings by dispatching Ben Mike for three fours in the second over. Shaw followed suit and hit three consecutive fours when Mike came to bowl his second over, as India A raced away to 38 in just four overs.

Boundaries came at will for the Indian duo, and as a result, the scoreboard was reading 84 after ten overs. Shaw, fresh off his 70-run knock in the last game, reached his fifty off 41 deliveries.

Agarwal then hit Ateeq Javid for a six and a four in the sixteenth over to score his fifty off 41 balls. By the time the 20th over ended, India A were 165 for no loss with Shaw batting on 90 off just 65 balls.

Shaw completed his century off 78 balls. The 18-year old scored 132 off just 90 balls with the help of 20 fours and three sixes.  He and Agarwal added 221 runs for the first wicket.

The much-needed wicket, however, did not bring any respite for Leicestershire, as Agarwal kept on going strong. Shubman Gill joined him and he started playing the big shots right from the outset.

The duo 179 runs for the second wicket before Agarwal was retired hurt for 151. The knock came off 106 balls and studded with 18 fours and 5 five sixes.

Gill, on the other hand, missed his century by just 14 runs. The right-hander scored 86 off just 54 balls.

Towards the end, Deepak Hooda and Shreyas Iyer played handy knocks to help India A finish strongly.
